Rebecca is the Distinguished Professor of Service Learning and an Associate Professor of Communication at the University of Indianapolis.

Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Programme for US Teachers Sherry Humphries from Jacksonville, Illinois will use her 2016 Fulbright US Distinguished Award in Teaching to research project based learning and its uses to develop American Sign Language and English skills in deaf students. Sherry is a high school science and history teacher at the Illinois School for the Deaf in Jacksonville, Illinois.

Merry is a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Enrichment Specialist at Carmel Elementary School.
Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Programme for US Teachers Lavie Raven from Chicago will use his 2016 Fulbright US Distinguished Award in Teaching to study the integration of Māori folkloric arts and the hip-hop arts for the purposes of cultural survival and celebration. Lavie is a Social Studies and Language arts teacher at North Lawndale College, and an adjunct professor for Ethics and Pedagogy in Art Education at the School of the Art Institute.
Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Programme for US Teachers Joshua Block from Philadelphia will use his 2016 Fulbright US Distinguished Award in Teaching to complete an inquiry project that focuses on the use of inquiry and project-based learning to engage diverse learners. Joshua is a Humanities Teacher at Science Leadership Academy, a public secondary school in Philadelphia.

Fulbright US Scholar Award Louise K. Davidson-Schmich from Miami, Florida is using her 2016 Fulbright US Scholar Award to research New Zealand’s female Prime Ministers (Jenny Shipley and Helen Clark) and teaching a class on Comparative Political Economy at the Victoria University of Wellington. Louise is Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Miami.
Fulbright US Scholar Award Katherine Crawford-Garrett is an assistant professor of Teacher Education, Educational Leadership and Policy at the University of New Mexico. Her areas of scholarship include neoliberal contexts of schooling, teacher activism, critical literacy and feminism. Her research on her 2016 Fulbright US Scholar Award will focus on TeachFirst NZ, a programme that prepares university graduates in New Zealand to work in low-decile schools.

Fulbright US Scholar Award David Grainger from Salt Lake City, Utah is using his Fulbright US Scholar Award to develop a new nanoparticle toxicity assessment model for the brain at the University of Otago. David is a University Distinguished Professor of Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Professor of Bioengineering at the University of Utah, and active consultant for the global medical device and drug delivery research and development enterprise.
Fulbright New Zealand Scholar Visual Artist Award Phil Dadson from Auckland is using his Award to go to Headlands Center for the Arts in Sausalito, California where he will develop the project ‘Sound Stories’ a retrospective interpretation of a video project he started in 1991. Phil has an MA (Hons) from West Sydney University and specialises in sound and video art with a special interest in acoustics and music.
Fulbright-Creative New Zealand Pacific Writer’s Residency Mīria George (Te Arawa, Ngāti Awa, Ngāti Rongo-ma-tane (Atiu), Ngāti Tinomana (Rarotonga)) from Horohoro and Akaoa, Arorangi, will use her 2016 Fulbright-Creative New Zealand Pacific Writer’s Residency to write and develop the performance piece ‘Fire In The Water, Fire In The Sky’ at the University of Hawai’i at Manoa in Honolulu. Fulbright New Zealand Scholar Award Nigel Isaacs, from Wellington, is using his 2016 Fulbright New Zealand Scholar Award to research the development of the first USA national building code (1922) and its impact on the first New Zealand national building code (1924) based at the University of Illinois with visits to archives in Minnesota, Iowa and Maryland. Nigel is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Architecture, Victoria University of Wellington.
Fulbright New Zealand Scholar Award Matthew Stott from Taupō is using his Fulbright New Zealand Scholar Award to undertake research into the ecological, functional and taxonomic similarities of microorganisms that populate geothermal ecosystems in New Zealand and Yellowstone National Park, Montana. Matthew leads the Extremophiles Research Group in the Department of Geothermal Sciences at GNS Science, Wairakei.
Fulbright US Graduate Award Robby Goldman from Los Angeles, California is using his 2016 Fulbright US Graduate Award for researching how the distribution and composition of primary volcanic features observed in the heavily eroded Akaroa volcano of the Banks Peninsula constrain numerical models of that volcano’s formation, at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch. Robby graduated with a BA from Pomona College in 2015.
Fulbright US Graduate Award Matt Jones from Pullman, Washington is using his 2016 Fulbright US Graduate Award for empirical data collection and statistical modeling to understand the establishment of dung beetle introductions to New Zealand. Richard is a School Counsellor at Rai Valley Area School and is working in conjunction with Whenua Iti Outdoors to develop Adventure Therapy courses for young people.
Fulbright-Meg Everton Professional Enhancement Award in Education Salvatore Gargiulo from Nelson has been a principal for the last 20 years. He used his Fulbright-Meg Everton Professional Enhancement Award in Education to research areas for development of education in New Zealand at conferences in the US: Education of Boys through the Michael Gurian Institute of Carlsbad California and Education of Students who come form low resourced families in Santa Fe.
