Our range of Fulbright US Scholar Awards is for American academics, artists, teachers and professionals to research, teach, present their work or undergo professional development in New Zealand.

Grantees are selected on the basis of academic, artistic, teaching or professional excellence, leadership potential and ambassadorial qualities. Awards range from 5 days to 7 months in duration, including a travel stipend and programme support.

  • I am a US citizen
  • I have a PhD or the equivalent professional or artistic training or experience
  • I am not currently living in New Zealand
  • I plan to undertake full-time lecturing or research at a New Zealand institution for a period of three to five months

Fulbright US Scholar Awards

  • I am a US citizen
  • I have at least five years’ experience in my profession
  • I am a potential leader and opinion-former in my chosen field
  • I have an interest in learning from my experience in New Zealand and putting to effective use in the US any policy lessons learned

  • I am a US Specialist
  • I am interested in joining the Fulbright Specialist Roster in order to be available to visit New Zealand as a Fulbright Specialist
