Fulbright US Specialist The University of Auckland hosts Carole Carlson from Boston, Massachusetts, who will support the University of Auckland Business School and its initiatives to expand its research in the areas of case-method learning and case writing.

Fulbright Specialist Award Massey University’s School of Psychology hosted Ken Shultz from California for three weeks in October 2023 where Ken made three presentations, one each in Palmerston North, Wellington, and Auckland. Ken also worked with Fiona Alpass and the Health and Ageing Research Team to outline collaborative research on how perceptions of training opportunities in older workers impacts their continued work and retirement aspirations using data from the New Zealand Health, Work, and Retirement Study. Ken is a Professor of Industrial and Organizational (IO) Psychology and Department Chair in the Department of Psychology at California State University, San Bernardino.

Fulbright Specialist Award Mara Sapon-Shevin from Syracuse, New York will collaborate with colleagues at the University of Waikato and the University of Auckland on issues related to inclusive education, social justice and diversity. Mara is a Professor of Inclusive Education at Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York.

Fulbright Specialist Award Heather Maynard from Los Angeles, California will research applications of biohybrid polymeric materials in food and agriculture at the University of Auckland. Heather is a professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at UCLA and an Associate Director of the California NanoSystems Institute.

Fulbright Specialist Award Harriet Kuhnlein will review the existing health and food information of Māori and Pasifika peoples, in order to create local sustainable diets at Massey University. Harriet is Adjunct Professor in the Department of Public Health Sciences of the University of Hawai’i in Manoa.

Fulbright Specialist Award David Griffiths from Portland, Oregon will lecture on Elementary Particle Physics at the University of Otago, Victoria University of Wellington and the University of Auckland. David is an Emeritus Professor of Physics at Reed College.

Fulbright Specialist Award AUT University hosted Rebecca Gilliland Deemer from Indianapolis, Indiana on a Fulbright Specialist Award, who advised in the curricular restructuring of AUT’s student-run public relations consultancy and researched local public relations practices. Rebecca is the Distinguished Professor of Service Learning and an Associate Professor of Communication at the University of Indianapolis.

Fulbright Specialist Award Bethlehem Tertiary Institute in Tauranga will host Beryl Hugen from Grand Rapids, Michigan on a Fulbright Specialist Award, who will participate in teaching and consulting with their Social Work Programme and practicum social service agencies. Beryl is Emeritus Professor and Social Work Program Director at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Fulbright Specialist Award Auckland University of Technology hosts Robert Field from Philadelphia to assist in developing a postgraduate major in non-communicable disease. Robert is Professor of Law and of Health Management and Policy at Drexel University.

Fulbright Specialist Award The University of Auckland hosts Carrie Earthman from Minnesota to provide expert clinical nutrition training and professional education for practicing dietitians. Carrie is Adjunct Professor in the Department of Food Science and Nutrition at the University of Minnesota.

Fulbright Specialist Award The University of Otago is hosting Roger Narayan from North Carolina to collaborate on bioink development for 3D bioprinting. Roger is Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

Fulbright Specialist Award The University of Otago is hosting Charles Webel from California to contribute to the curriculum of peace, conflict and terrorism-related programmes and hold public lectures. Charles is Professor of Peace Studies at Chapman University and Professor of International Relations at the University of New York in Prague, Czech Republic.

Fulbright Specialist Award The University of Auckland is hosting Steven Hughes from Colorado to develop excellence in coastal engineering education. Steven is Senior Research Scientist at Colorado State University. Steven spent 30 years with the U.S Army Corps of Engineer’s Coastal and Hydraulics Laboratory.

Fulbright Specialist Award The University of Auckland is hosting Chris Chunting Mi from California to deliver lectures and advise on wireless power transfer technology for engineering education. Chris is Professor and Chair in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at San Diego State University. He is also Adjunct Professor at the University of California.

Fulbright Specialist Award The University of Canterbury hosts Christopher Bellitto from New Jersey, to lecture, workshop and develop capability in the practice of humanities. Chris is Professor of History at Kean University in New Jersey.

Fulbright Specialist Award The University of Auckland hosts David Sedlak from California to present lectures, seminars and workshops on prospects for New Zealand’s ‘three waters’ issue: drinking water, storm water and waste water. David is Plato Malozemoff Professor of Environmental Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley.

Fulbright Specialist Award Auckland University of Technology’s Journalism Department hosts Dianne Finch from Massachusetts to focus on upskilling students and academics on the use of data and storytelling with data. Dianne is a Data Visualisation Specialist with affiliations to Boston University, Elon University, Kent State University and Salem State University.

Donna is Kamyar Haghighi Head of the School of Engineering Education at Purdue University.
