Aphra Green

New Zealand Harkness Fellowship 2015 Harkness Fellow Aphra Green is Sector Strategy Manager at Ministry of Justice. She will visit agencies in the US justice sector early in 2016 and report back to justice sector leadership on how New Zealand could deliver better evidence and decision making tools to criminal justice system decision-makers, particularly for bail.

New Zealand Harkness Fellowship Donna Provoost from Wellington will undertake research at the University of Oregon and Harvard University exploring how neuroscience, psychology and related disciplines can better inform policies to improve the well-being and resilience of children. Donna is Director of the Strategy, Rights and Advice team at the office of the Children’s Commissioner in Wellington.

New Zealand Harkness Fellowship Douglas Jones, from Gisborne and Wellington will be based at Massachusetts Institute of Technology exploring the environmental trade-offs, and costs that need to be considered when introducing new technologies (such as gene editing) to protect native species. Doug is Manahautū/General Manager of the Māori Policy and Operations Team at the Environmental Protection Authority in Wellington.

New Zealand Harkness Fellowship 2017 Harkness Fellow Joe Beaglehole is Senior Policy Analyst at the Ministry for the Environment where he works on urban policy issues. He will spend time at the Marron Institute on Cities and The Urban Environment at New York University on a Harkness Fellowship researching new tools for addressing the challenges of rapid urbanisation.

New Zealand Harkness Fellowship 2016 Harkness Fellow Peter Coleman is Strategic Advisor in the Office of the Chief of New Zealand Defence Force.  He will research quantitative tools for supporting culture change in the public sector, with a specific focus on enhancing military integration, hoste by the US Army War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
