Fulbright US Scholar Awards are for American academics, artists or professionals to lecture and/or conduct research at New Zealand institutions. A small number of awards valued at up to NZ$39,500 are granted each year, towards three to five months of lecturing and/or research.

These awards are available for lecturing and/or research in any field.

Kerwyn Huang

Kerwyn Casey (KC) Huang, from Palo Alto, California, is a Professor of Bioengineering and Microbiology at Stanford University.

Trained in physics and mathematics, his research uses quantitative approaches to study microbial communities, with his Fulbright work at Otago University in Dunedin focusing on how traditional medicines influence the human gut microbiome.

Xin Feng

Xin Feng from Columbus, Ohio, is a Professor of Human Development and Family Science at The Ohio State University. Her research at Massey University in Palmerston North explores children’s emotional regulation and the development of depression and anxiety across cultural contexts.

Eric Palkovacs

Fulbright US Scholar

Eric Palkovacs from Santa Cruz, California will research the recent diversification and ecological role of rainbow trout in Lake Taupō at the University of Auckland.

Eric is a Professor in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of California, Santa Cruz.

Jesse Abdenour

Fulbright US Scholar Award

Jesse Abdenour, from Seattle, Washington will produce a documentary film and related research about rugby and concussions at Auckland University of Technology.

Jesse is an associate professor in the School of Journalism and Communication at the University of Oregon.

Angela Cooke-Jackson

Fulbright US Scholar Award

Angela Cooke-Jackson, from Los Angeles, California, will research reproductive and sexual health among Māori women and gender minorities through a partnership with the Māori scholars in the CARE Center and the Research Centre for Hauora and Health, at Massey University.

Angela is a Professor in the Department of Communication Studies and an affiliate faculty in the Department of Public Health at Cal State, LA in Los Angeles, California.

Sarah Goff

Fulbright US Scholar Award

Sarah Goff from Amherst, Massachusetts will research health care equity at Te Herenga Waka-Victoria University of Wellington.

Sarah is a Professor in the Department of Health Promotion and Policy at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Massachusetts.
