Fulbrighter Frances Moore, opera director, discusses her approach to design concepts

In this video, Fulbrighter Frances Moore discusses her approach to the design concepts for the New Zealand School of Music double bill opera she has directed: Dido & Aeneas by Purcell and L’Enfant et les Sortilèges by Ravel. She is featured here with colleague Weta Workshop staffer Alex Guillot talking about their vision for the production.

Frances received a Fulbright New Zealand General Graduate Student Award to study opera directing at New York University in 2012.

On returning home, she said the experience had “an indelible impact” on her work.

“My increased knowledge of opera as it operates on an international level has inspired but also deepened my commitment in nurturing and producing works in New Zealand that are relevant for New Zealanders and speak to our own experience.”
