Fulbright Lecture: James McCormick – Implications of the US Elections: American Foreign Policy After 6 November

The Fulbright New Zealand Alumni Association invites you to a free public lecture by Fulbright alumnus James McCormick, Professor and Chair of the Department of Political Science at Iowa State University, who will review the outcome of the American elections of 6 November and discuss the implications for American foreign policy in the years ahead.

Professor McCormick will explain the outcome of the elections by analysing popular and electoral votes for each of the presidential candidates, how they fared in different regions including key “battleground states”, and what seemed to be the decisive issues, policy positions and campaign actions of the campaign. He will discuss the implications of the result for American foreign policy in general and for the Asia-Pacific region in particular, and how current economic conditions in America will affect foreign policy for the immediate future.

Professor McCormick was a Fulbright US Senior Scholar at the University of Waikato in 1993, where he taught courses on US foreign policy for the University’s Defence and Strategic Studies programme. He has been awarded many times for his research, authored or edited twelve books and published more than sixty book chapters and journal articles in his field.
