National parks around the world are treasured for their scenic vistas and recreational opportunities. But they are underused as places for science communication and storytelling.
Peri Sasnett, a 2012 Fulbright US Grad, takes us behind the scenes at Glacier National Park to learn how she and her team are trying to change that with their podcast, Headwaters.
Listening and Learning: Communicating Science in US National Parks is available to watch on the Fulbright NZ YouTube channel.
Peri Sasnett is drawn to the intersection of science and society, where she works to make science accessible to wider audiences through digital media, written narratives, and personal connections. Her experience includes science communication and outreach work with the National Park Service, particularly long form audio storytelling and videography.
Peri earned a bachelor’s degree in earth science from Columbia University, and a Masters in Geology from the University of Canterbury during her Fulbright Award. Her Fulbright Award project was titled Establishing the slip history and Geological Context of the Greendale Fault.
