Fulbright New Zealand invites you to a free public seminar by alumna Eryn Newman, a PhD candidate at Victoria University of Wellington’s School of Psychology. Eryn received a 2011 Fulbright New Zealand Graduate Award to research cognitive mechanisms of human memory and decision-making at the University of California, Irvine.
In this seminar Eryn will discuss her Fulbright experience and PhD research, including an attention-grabbing investigation into the science behind popular American news satirist Stephen Colbert’s concept of truthiness – “truth that comes from the gut, not books” – and the influence of decorative images on our willingness to believe fact, fiction and predictions about the future.
Places are limited so please RSVP to [email protected] or 472 2065 by Tuesday 23 October. Bring your own “brown bag” lunch.
